Referral Networking for Accountants and Bookkeepers in York, PA

Saturday, October 3

Most accountants and bookkeepers grow the same way: one satisfied client tells another. PRE York turns that into a habit. We're a group of York-area business owners who meet every week, get to know each other's businesses, and pass qualified referrals: real people who need what a member does and expect a call.

Right now the chapter has open seats for Accounting and Bookkeeping & payroll.

One professional per category

PRE allows only one member in each business category. If you hold the accounting seat, you're the accountant every member recommends. You never compete with another member in the room for a referral.

Who sends business to accountants and bookkeepers

Accountants sit at the center of a small business's decisions, which makes them natural referral partners for many members:

  • Financial advisors and insurance agents work with the same clients on planning, retirement and protection
  • Realtors and mortgage lenders meet people buying property, starting rental businesses or relocating
  • Attorneys handle business formation, estates and transactions that all need an accountant's help
  • Bankers see owners applying for loans who need clean financial statements
  • Contractors and other service businesses often need help with bookkeeping, payroll and sales tax themselves

And it works both ways: you hear every day which clients need insurance, a lender, a lawyer or a financial plan.

What membership looks like

  • A weekly meeting where each member introduces their business and the referral they're looking for
  • A turn as the featured speaker to explain what you do best and who your ideal client is
  • One-to-one meetings with members, so you learn exactly who to send each other
  • A member portal to give and track referrals, see who sends you business and follow each one to closed business

Questions and answers

Do I need to be a CPA to hold the accounting seat?

The accounting seat is for professionals who provide accounting and tax services. Bookkeeping and payroll services have their own seat. If you're not sure which fits you, send the chapter leader a note through the Contact page.

How much time does membership take?

About an hour and a half each week for the meeting, plus a few one-to-ones a month. Members who show up consistently get the most referrals.
